Black Wool Gaberdine

Black wool gaberdine is a tightly woven suiting wool with a smooth, firm hand and a subtle diagonal rib visible on close inspection. The weave gives it a clean, orderly surface with very little nap, making it appear crisp rather than fuzzy, even in deep black.

This fabric has excellent body and drape, holding sharp lines while still moving well with the wearer. Historically, gaberdine weaves were favored for garments that needed to look polished and wear hard over time, particularly in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Well suited for coats, waistcoats, breeches, and other tailored garments where structure and durability are important. The dense weave resists abrasion and sheds dirt readily, making it a practical choice for frequently worn outer garments and formal impressions alike.
